Chicory & Cocoa

I haven’t drank coffee in a long time - but I picked up the vanilla chicory concentrate because I wanted something warm to sip after long days and after church. Honestly, I figured it would taste like weak, sweetened water. I was wrong. One tea spoon stirred into hot milk turns rich, toasty, almost caramel-like. There is little vanilla flavor, barely noticeable, so you might want to add your own extract or syrup for flavor. I use agave syrup to sweeten it because it has a low glycemic index. What I really enjoy is how a cup of this chicory feels without any caffeine keeping me up - I can drink it at nine at night and still sleep fine. I especially enjoy it around 3-4 pm. I have had it for almost a month now, and a little truly goes a long way. I have had a great experience with it so far.

You can really taste the elderberry with its distinct tartness when prepared cold. This concentrate has no sugar so when I mixed it with cold water it was very refreshing. I added a little Agave syrup and with its low glycemic index as it ads subtle soft sweetness which is heavenly.
This is not a standard chicory mix but I love the mix of antioxidants and the fiber. This is a natural as you can get without the caffeine.

I have had this concentrate for over a month now. Liquid chicory is very rare and at this price this is excellent value. For me this has been a healthier summer routine. Caffeine will give me jitters and dehydration if I drink it, so chicory is a great substitute.

Drinking it cold:
I have only used instant chicory before, so I was not sure about the dosage. I tried half a teaspoon and it gave me a very mellow beverage. I tried one teaspoon for a standard glass and got a full-flavored chicory beverage with its natural sweet note.

It is about as thick as maple syrup, so it easily dissolves in water, no clumps, no grits. I liked the fact that you can just mix it in cold water and drink. To me this is a high grade product with genuine consistent flavor. Chicory provides inulin fiber. I will add this concentrate to my chicory roster.

One thing about chicory powder is I could never get the serving right. It's either too strong or tasteless. This concentrate easily dissolves in water and it is ready in seconds . The taste is very full, slightly bitter, but as bitter as brewed chicory. If you add some creamer or half-and-half it becomes nutty and sweet. I drink it after lunch and in the evenings.

This is such a delight. A great option for an after 6pm drink. I added heavy cream and a little condensed milk and it came like nothing I have ever tasted before. A mix of nutty roasted flavor, with a little bitterness and sweet cream. I poured it over ice, so it was cold. It's not coffee, but after a couple of sips I did not really think about it.

This is really soothing and easy to make. As an RN I already drink enough coffee on my shiftts. I just need a warm, smooth drink. This concentrate can be strong by itself. It's not acidic but it has a little tangy taste on the tongue. And it's very smooth with with creamer or warm milk.

It is very versatile, I can add it to my coffee or stand alone. It has very bold but natural chicory root flavor, no chemical aftertaste, no grounds in your mouth. It is also healthy. This is definitely for people looking for a coffee alternative that enjoy strong flavor but have problems with acid. This causes no acid and works well for my stomach. Great stuff.

Had to cut down on my coffee intake in my first trimester. This tastes very smooth with milk, much better then decaf. I love that I don't have to worry about drinking it late in the evening. I don't get enough sleep as it is, so this is a great fix. It has no sugar so I add a little maple syrup to sweeten it.
